[edit] Overview

A faction is a group of players, corresponding to either a Clan or Inner Sphere power. Factions may be old, with players that started during the early days of the game, or recently revived. Factions also vary in size, with just a couple of members to dozens. It is highly recommended that in Invasion 3042 a player join a faction in order to reach the max potential. Factions may be more focused on one particular goal than others (e.g. war for Clan Blood Spirit, production for Clan Snow Raven, or research for House Steiner. To a beginning player, the various styles of play for each faction may be difficult to determine, so feel free to contact players in each House or Clan to find out what their particular focus is. It is important to keep in mind that as the game mechanics of Invasion3042 necessitates team play, there will always be a need for a variety of roles within each faction, from research to production to mining to military.

[edit] Advantages of Factions

  • By joining a faction you have the chance to grow your Empire even larger. Joining a faction will immediately give you three new zones- agricultural, mining, and plains. Your faction may also have other planets that you can eventually expand to.
  • Factions can provide military units at discounted rates, along with parts and minerals.
  • Factions also provide protection during battles as other faction members can Pilot for you.
  • Factions will give guidance, advice, and generally help newer players learn the game.
  • More senior players in factions will have chances to gain higher ranks and positions of command.

[edit] Downsides

  • If your faction enters a war with another Faction, you just became part of that war like it or not.
  • You must take commands from players above in rank. You will be expected to do things that help your faction, like piloting for other faction members or researching various technologies for your faction. If you don't, you may be kicked from the faction, and this may affect your ability to join a new one.
  • Political standings matter between factions, so you must be mindful of such stances.

[edit] How to join a Faction

To join a faction go the the politics tab and look on the left side for Join a House/Clan. Click on it. A list should come up of Factions open to players to join. If you are a Clan empire seek a Clan out. If you are an Inner Sphere empire seek a House. Look at all the options shown. Most will have a small text section describing the House/Clan. Once you think you found one, put an application in. Most Houses/Clans will respond in under 24 hours.

See this link for a more detailed explanation of the process involved in joining a faction, or taking up an empty one.
