Targeting computers

A targetting computer is a Battlemech and tank component that reduces the base to-hit or BTH of any direct-fire weapons, such as autocannons, Gauss rifles, lasers and PPCs by -1. This means if you normally required a 10 to hit an enemy with any of the aforementioned weapons, having a targetting computer means you would only require a 9 to hit. It is functionally the same as if your unit's gunnery skill was one point lower.

Targetting computers have a secondary mode, which allows a unit to select a specific body part of an enemy 'mech to target (this does not include the head). However, the computer's -1 to-hit modifier is replaced with a +3 to-hit modifier. This means you must roll higher numbers to land shots when using this function, but any shots that hit will hit the specified location. If an Ultra Autocannon fired in Duplex mode and both shots hit, they will both hit the given location. As of Invasion3042 v.3.18, this ability is not coded into the game.

Targetting computers do not apply to missile weapons, LBXes in cluster-shot mode, or the Clan Hyper Assault Gausses (HAGs).
