[edit] How to Start a Raid

Open the Star Map. Select the Planet you are staging your attack from. Click 'Mil Ops'. This brings up the Military Ops Window. Select the type of Raid you'd like to undertake ( Raid / Deep Raid / Extended Range Range ). Then select the planet you'd like to attack ( remember you cannot just attack any planet, but you must follow the predesignated jump routes. Once you select a Planet, click the 'Load Sectors' button on the 'Mil Ops' screen. Next select a sector to attack. If the target is restricted, there will be a big red NO. Conversely, if the target is open for military operations, there will be a big green YES.

Ok, so now you've selected an empire to attack, now you need to select which zone you'd like to Raid. Your options are: Mining Zone , Agricultural Zone , Plains Zone. Once you pick the zone you'd like to attack, start picking some military units you'd like to bring with you ( you cannot attack with nothing! ). The 'Sum BV' button becomes useful now, as you can see how much Battle Value (BV) you're bringing on your attack.

Now you're ready! Click Deploy! This brings up another window, the Launch Attack Window. Once your units are no longer in transit, you may begin your attack. Select the drop down menu, 'Attack From: Dropship' . Now select, Attack to: Landing Zone from the other drop down menu. Select the units you'd like to use ( within the Battle Value limits ) to use. Now click the green Attack button. If you fail to take the Landing Zone your mission is a failure. If you take the Landing Zone, your now ready to begin the Raid to pillage one of your opponents zones. Before you begin this Raid however, you may want to unload more units. Click the 'Unload Dropship' button to see what units to unload, and how many you're able to use. Unload these units to the Landing Zone. Now that you've unloaded more units, you're ready to pillage. Click 'Attack from' Landing Zone and 'Attack to' the zone you selected to pillage. If you win this battle your Raid is successful, however if you lose this battle ... it is advised you 'Cancel' The mission.
