Protection

The game mechanism known usually as Protection helps mediate combat to prevent an empire from suffering too many attacks or damage in a short time span. It allows a player time to rebuild their forces and reorganize their empire after being attacked. Any combat operation carried out on a target will, regardless of whether or not it is successful, places the target in the Protection status.

When protected, an empire cannot claim new sectors, or be the target by any combat operation until their protection has expired. A player can check the time remaining on their protection status in the Map tab, in the middle left panel.

The length of the protection timer depends on the type of operation last carried out on the empire in question, and how many sectors the empire currently controls. See the Invasion Time article for conversions from game time to real time.

[edit] 1 Sector Empires

The following are the timers that will be placed on a one-sector empire after the following operations:

- A recon, regardless of whether it is a normal or deep recon, will set a protection timer equal to 3 real life days.

- A raid, regardless of type, sets a timer equal to 7 real life days.

- An invasion sets a timer equal to 14 real life days.

[edit] 2 Sector Empires

- Recons will set a timer of 2 real life days.

- Raids, regardless of type, sets a timer equal to 5 real life days.

- Invasions set a timer equal to 10 real life days.
