Pilot Permissions

Pilot Permissions refer to the access other players have in being able to command your military units in battle. Simply referred to as 'pilots', and the commanding itself as 'piloting', this function is absolutely essential in waging war. Should you be attacked, or have a battle to fight in which you cannot attend for whatever reason, not having any pilots set will mean your units will be run by the AI, which is a haphazard option at best, and a disaster at the worst.

As most players sum it up: even the worst human player is, nine times out of ten, better than the AI.

The ability to change pilot permissions is found in the Politics tab. By clicking the appropriately marked button in the lower left corner of the tab's interface, you will get a window pop-up that lists empires currently listed as able to pilot your units. You can add anyone you want to the list, but as the list warns, YOU are responsible for making sure your pilots are trustworthy. While one's use of piloting privileges in such a manner is very much frowned upon in Invasion3042, it has been known to happen before, and be absolutely certain that any empires you add to your pilot list are people you trust with your units.

When added to your pilot list, any empires listed that view their Current Battles in the Military Tab can see your units in combat, and strictly in combat. They cannot move your units away from where you have them stationed on the Star Map, nor can they repair your units for you - they can only pilot units engaged in combat.
