Activity levels within the Valkyrate have plummeted. Research within house has taken a large hit with the loss of its empires. The future of the Morgraine Valkyrate is very uncertain at this time.

Currently the Valkyrate has uncontested ownership of the world of Cordoba. The inactive faction Nueva Castile borders us on one side, Clan Diamond Shark and Butte Hold Pirates on the other.

[edit] Invasion History Late 3070 on

  • In Mid August of 3070 the new Dominatrix, Hildr, struck the palace in a blitzkrieg attack and secured for herself command over the whole of the Valkyrate. The appalling conditions on site have forced her to seek aid from outside the Valkyrate to assist in the reconstruction of the realm at large. {OOC: Tyrranus took over the Faction Leader empire of the Valkyrate and found himself over 200 million icash in the negative and loosing over 1 million/iday}
  • Aid has poured in from all across civilized space and as of late October 3070, the Valkyrate is on course to prosper. Diplomatic talks have revitalized old alliances and bred new ones.
  • A few arranged engagements on War World between House Steiner and the Valkyrate, and Clan Diamond Shark and the Valkyrate helped trim down excess military forces.
  • through the end of 3070 and into mid 3071, operations against small periphery pirates have helped to train the fighting edge of Valkyrate units.
  • During July 3071 talks with Clan Jade Falcon proceeded towards a mutual training program on war world. Small unit skirmishes there with other parties is also seemed likely but nothing became of it.
  • As of May 3072 the Valkyrate can now claim a functioning Mech Production Facility. Aside from that 3072 and 3073 were quiet for MV.
  • Late February 3074 The Valkyrate is poised on the brink of war. CDS space to the south is already heavily besieged and rumblings of violence begin coming out of Butte Hold Pirates
  • July 3074 Butte Hold Pirates's have declared war on Santanders World further destabilizing the region of space and adding additional pressures on the Valkyrate to officially enter the war on one side or the other.
  • March 3075 Late in the month both Butte Hold Pirates and Santanders World ended their war. While the region remains a hotbed of activity. By late April the Valkyrate has still managed to remain neutral despite continued war and instability in the region.
  • The rest of 3075 and most of 3076 passed without major incident for the Valkyrate. The restrictions by former allies on trade eased somewhat and several lucrative BattleMech production runs were arranged with Clan Ghost Bear
  • Information reached the Dominatrix's desk very late in 3076 of an impending governmental collapse within the Butte Hold Pirates. Moving forces of her own unit, Hildr's Own, to attempt to retake Gotterdammerung, homeworld of the Morgraine Valkyrate, before it could fall into poverty and its citizens suffered. Local authorities have defended their world honorably thus far and met Valkyrate forces in civilized combat. House Liao, on the other hand has taken this excuse to begin acts of piracy against the Valkyrate world of Asturias.
  • December 3076: With a spirited defense mounted by Butte Hold forces on Gotterdammerung and a lackluster showing within the combined forces of Clan Diamond Shark and Hildr's Own units assigned to the attack, Cease fire negotiations were held. Given the Increased threat of continued Capellan marauder activity in the region, Dominatrix Hildr stepped talks to a full peace negotiation. Supreme Commander Yanni readily accepted the offer and the allied invading forces left the embattled world in early January.
  • January 3077: Free Rasalhague Republic moved onto the Valkyrate world of Asturias as a peace keeping force to prevent Capellan pirates from occupying the world. Clan Diamond Shark was less than thrilled with this action, sensing another threatening Inner Sphere power, despite both Rasalhague and Valkyrate assurances to the contrary. Dominatrix Hildr, unwilling to cede the world without even a token fight, led a veteran lance of warriors to battle against elements of the Gunzberg Eagles. In a daring move she split her force, engaging three enemy BattleMechs alone while sending the remainder of her lance to engage a secondary force. In both cases Valkyrate forces won out over their Rasalhague counterparts. Control of the world was temporarily transferred to the Republic late on the 27th. The future for the Morgraine Valkyrate is uncertain at this time. Dominatrix Hildr, tho victorious in her fight, never returned from the field. Neither her nor her mech, Hefnd, have been found to this date.

The story of the Greater Valkyrate is that of two disgruntled lieutenants in the forces of bandit king Hendrik Grimm III of the Oberon Confederation, Maria Morgraine and Redjack Ryan. Ryan was forced to flee from the Confederation after he and his unit wreaked havoc on a planet they were supposed to garrison; he subsequently established himself as a pirate king on Butte Hold in 3018.

Incensed at the expulsion of her lover but ostensibly also because of the male dominance in the Confederation, Ryan's lover Maria Morgraine broke away from the Oberon Confederation with some loyal followers as well. They settled on the frozen world Gotterdammerung and declared it the capital of their new pirate kingdom, Morgraine's Valkyrate, in 3021. Over the next two years they brought four more ice worlds under their control: Botany Bay, Erewhon, Lackhove and Last Chance.

In 3028 Morgraine and Ryan married. Ryan's pirate kingdom of Butte Hold was included in the Valkyrate, which was renamed to Greater Valkyrate.

Morgraine and Ryan had a daughter, Susie Morgraine-Ryan, their sole legitimate heir. She exceeded both her parents as a cruel and ruthless, yet also successful leader and rose to command the Third Battailon of Ryan's Rebels at a young age.
