In addition to the various special targeting systems developed for missiles, the Clans have developed advanced targeting systems, only recently matched by the Inner Sphere, that can enhance the performance of the following types of direct-fire weapons: lasers, PPCs, Gauss rifles, and autocannon. It has no effect on other types of weaons. This advanced targeting computer is available to Clan and Inner Sphere units, and a unit may only mount one targeting computer. All attacks made with this system using the weapons allowed, have a -1 bonus to the to-hit number. The unit may also choose to target a specific location. Not all weapons linked to the computer need make an aimed shot, but all weapons used for this type of attack must fire at the same location, which must be visible to the firing unit. Add a +3 penalty to the to-hit number for all weapons used in this form of attack (which replaces the -1 bonus applied to standard attack with this technology). If the attack misses the desired location, it misses entirely. Note: LB-X autocannon when using cluster ammo lose the benefits of the targeting computer. If a unit fires an Ultra autocannon at specific location and both shots hit, both shots hit the targeted location.
