The Mako (MKO-K1) is a 75 ton clan custom heavy mech originally specific to Clan Diamond Shark.

Field reports are indicating that the Diamond Shark have developed a new mech called the Mako. The reference of the Mako goes back to the fast, agressive, and deadly shark that roamed the open ocean on ancient Terra. It is reported that the Mako was designed by GCmdr Kardock Horn and StCol Seraph in an effort to surpise Khan Ian Hawker. When the Diamond Shark Lore Master, Barrator Sennet, was asked about the design he replied: "Rumours run as they wish - The Shark swim with a purpose". Khan Ian Hawker could not be reached for comment on the design and development of this mech.

This 'mech is a good all-purpose unit, mounting accurate pulse lasers, long-range lasers, and a few tertiary small lasers. All of these are tied to a targetting computer, and the Mako is also reasonably fast for a custom unit. About this 'mech's only real flaw is the use of an XL engine - it only takes three engine hits to destroy the machine, but given its firepower, being able to do so without being destroyed in turn is hard.
The Mako's weapons bear a resemblance to that of the Cruroem Spiritus on a smaller scale, though it is unlikely there was any connection between the two 'mechs.
