Draconis Combine

The Draconis Combine, also known as House Kurita, is an Inner Sphere faction run by Koron. (For a good “Pre-Invasion 3042” history check out target: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Draconis_Combine ) In an attempt to keep The Dragon alive and well there have been several changes in Coordinator, some peaceful, some violent, some unexpected. At the same time the Draconis Combine has been involved in several major conflicts and lost much of its initial space. There were times of peace though and during those times there was prosperity, of a sort. Having just come out of their latest conflict the Draconis Combine is now in a time attempting to rebuild and restructure.

[edit] The Draconis Combine TODAY
Major emphasis has been centered on reconstruction and recruitment, efforts which have paid off exceptionally well. Today the dragon stands proud once more, not fully recovered from its painful history, yet strong and revitalized. The jumpships of the Pillar of Jade are seen ranging far and wide as Combine traders bring our exceptional goods to the many markets abroad. Similarly the Pillar of Steel trains tirelessly to ensure that the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery is ready to meet any new threats head on and crush them. The Pillars of Ivory and Teak work harmoniously together to ensure the well being of our citizens, while the ever vigilant Pillar of Gold maintains its enlightened rule.
[edit] Recent Notable Events
The most recent events of note regarding the Combine is the war launched by Clan Snow Raven in an attempt to cow the Dragon into allowing them ownership of Hachiman. After agreeing to the initial demands by the Ravens to restrict the war to this world solely, while the clansmen risked nothing, the Khan of this clan has attempted to claim that they now own the world and House Kurita is not allowed to continue fighting to return it to our faction. If we choose to do so, the Ravens threaten all out war and to attempt to burn all Dragon empires. DCMS units prove wholly unprepared for open warfare with the Ravens, leading to an uneasy peace deal.

[edit] Worlds of the Combine
Currently our holdings include Quentin, Al Na'ir, Benjamin, Dover, Tok Do, Hun Ho, Togura, Vega, Luthien, Avon, Tok Do, Irece, and Chatham.
Initial holdings included all of the above planets plus Hachiman, Proserpina, Schuyler, Midway, New Samarkand, Soul, and Quandahar.
At one point the Draconis Combine also controlled Grumium and Gunzburg.
All of this is subject to change as is current as of 26 Apr 3089.
[edit] A (Semi) Complete History
UNDER DEVELOPMENT Here is an outline of historical events:
Production and Research starts – We look to our Coordinator for guidance, he cannot be found. A new leader, Blueweasel, is nominated
Combat starts – Clan Ghost Bear (CGB) starts hostilities in an attempt to gain additional space. Though combat is sporadic it is mostly honorable.
Cult appears – A new, but ancient, Clan group arises. Angry about past insults they declare war on the rest of the Clans.
Cult vanishes – After several years of moderate success Cult all but vanishes. Several leaders, directing empires in other locations across the galaxy, are believed to be former members of Cult but most deny any relation.
CWM appears – Shortly after the Cult worlds empty a new Clan, Clan Widow Maker, appears. They occupy the space Cult was in and Jihad is declared; they against the IS and many IS and Clan factions against them.
Peace with CWM – After loosing a few planets House Kurita and CWM reach an uneasy alliance. Tensions remain very high due to the on going war between CWM and everyone else.
Second CWM war – With a few broken promises, on both sides, CWM again takes up arms against House Kurita. The chances of returning to peace continue to decrease.
Sudden peace – After a regime change in House Kurita CWM is suddenly open to peace. Hostilities stop and support to defend House Kurita is even offered.
Third CWM war – There is some political double dealing and CWM returns to hostilities against House Kurita. Though not stated there is a drive to eliminate House Kurita completely.
IS abandons Kurita – After finding the source of some of the problems there is another regime change in House Kurita. Due to propaganda most of the IS feels that House Kurita deserves to be eliminated and either actively pursue this end or just stand back to let it happen.
Kurita rebirth – Even with no support Kurita perseveres. Eventually the other factions get tired of kicking a down man and move on to more challenging targets. Over time those that were neutral start becoming allies again and Kuritain growth reaches record levels.
3069: With another major upheaval in upper ranks of the military House Kurita has finally been broken. It was not external pressures but internal strife that was the breaking point. This resulted in several commanders committing seppuku, a few leaving to join other Houses and at least one simple disappearance. There was also the stressing, and in some cases breaking, of diplomatic ties across the Inner Sphere. Most of this happened during the late summer and early fall of 3069.
At the end of all of this it was realized that there was not enough internal structure, military or support, to keep up appearances or combat. As a result House Kurita withdrew from all diplomatic and military actions. As things began to calm down new relations were set up and communications restored.
30XX: After the sudden and unexpected implosion of Clan Blood Spirit the dragon moved to reclaim many of its worlds. Once this goal was attained, major emphasis was centered on reconstruction and recruitment, efforts which payed off exceptionally well.
3080s: The peaceful return of the world of Tok Do to Combine hands by House Steiner, has led to better diplomatic relations and more robust trade between the two states. Negotiations with House Davion arranged a similarly peaceful return of Hachiman to Kuritan control, sadly tho, events after the hand-off have strained the formerly cordial relations our two nations shared.
Our friends in the Mica Majority floundered and failed, and we reclaimed Irece and Schuyler for the Combine. Later the Grey Death Legion sought us out and succesfully negotiated a deal that would allow them residence on Schuyler, gaining House Kurita a new trade partner and friend.
3090s: On November 16 3090, Clan Snow Raven launched an unprovoked attack on The Dragon's world of Hachiman. The following battles ended poorly for Draconis forces, leading to peace with CSR retaining ownership of the planet, and House Kurita contractually obligated to remain on Allied status with CSR.
