Invasions

From Invasion3042 Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

An invasion is a full-scale attack that can be launched at an opposing factions' sector. The sector under invasion will be locked down and unable to buy or sell any inventory (parts, blueprints, vehicles, etc.). The sector will be unable to commission new military units, and any units en route to that sector will be sent back to the sector they moved from upon arrival to the besieged sector.

Invasions often require coordination among several empires of a house/clan to proceed smoothly. However, these attacks are the only way to gain new territory for your house/clan. They are also the most fun style of fighting found in Invasion3042.

When invading, both the invading and defending empires must adhere to a strict set of rules coded into the game, to help ensure not only enjoyable combat, but the ability for both sides to conduct a proper offense and defense.

How long does it take?

When an invasion is launched, it takes only 2 game hours for the attackers' force to arrive.

The length of the invasion depends on the amount of defending BV present. The more defenders present, the longer the invasion will take to complete. This time can range from a couple of real days to over a real week.

This sounds cool, how do I invade?

First, open the Starmap. Find the planet and sector you want to launch from - this sector becomes your base of operations during the invasion. It is recommended that you have a stockpile of spare parts on hand for repairing damaged units in this sector, however, you can bring parts in after you launch.

Next, click the Mil Ops button in the planet's overview for the sector your units are stationed. A window will pop up showing you the unit list for your faction for that sector, and there will be drop-down menus for the attack type. Select 'Invasion' from the drop-down at the top left of the window. Next, using the Starmap, select the world you want to invade. Once you have done that and the game processes the command, click the Load Sectors button, and from the sector numbers listed, choose the sector you want to attack. The information of which empire resides there, their faction and Protection status will be shown. If the target can be attacked, the info display will show a green OK - if it shows the red NO, the target is under protection and cannot be attacked at the current time.

All that is left to do is name your operation as you see fit, and select the units you want to take. Pick units by clicking the checkmark beside the unit name. You can use the Sum BV button near the bottom left to check how much BV you are taking into the war.

Double-check everything before launching. If everything checks out, click Deploy, and your attack will be launched.

Prior to the invasion being registered, you will be giving an option to capture (given you have the proper research complete and the ability to control another sector - consult the Accounts tab before launching) or burn the sector you are invading. However, if your target has only one sector, it cannot be burned - you must invade to capture such empires.

Invasions & You: Rules

Unlike recons and raids, invasions proceed in a scheduled format. It is built in this way to allow both players not only the opportunity to rest and take care of real life matters between battles, but also to allow for players to actually fight other players as opposed to the much-maligned AI. The number of battles that need to be fought depend on the amount of defenders present. A spreadsheet created by ReLoad for this purpose can be found here.

In the invasion window, which the leader of the operation (the person who clicked the Launch button), and the two heads of their house/clan only can view, battles can be scheduled using the calendar option located there. You can schedule fights however you see fit, however, only battles under your control can be rescheduled by you. The rest are controlled by your opponent, and may be set to times you personally cannot attend - overcoming this requires not only that you have your pilot permissions set, but teamwork on your faction's part. Invasions will always have an odd number of fights set up. The side that wins more than half of these fights wins the invasion. In any invasion, the defender will always control one more battle over the attacker, otherwise, the control is divided evenly between each side.

Not only is winning these battles important for you to secure victory in the operation, but in the case that you are defeated, the number of battles also has a separate meaning: any leftover military units on board your Dropships have a chance of being lost in the retreat should you not win enough fights. If you do not win a single battle, all units not destroyed in combat will be lost when the operation ends. The only way to mitigate this effect is to win more of the scheduled battles. Because of this, it is advised that you do not take too much BV with you, in case this occurs.

How much BV can I bring?

You may bring as much BV as you want onto the dropship. You can only deploy the amount of BV specified to a specific battle as it is listed in the Battle Roster. This value is modified based upon a few factors:

- An Inner Sphere empire attacking a Clan empire with strictly Inner Sphere 'mechs can bring a extra 10% BV to all fights. If even one Clan 'mech is in the attacking force, this bonus is lost.

- If the empire you are attacking has only one sector, you may assign only 75% of the listed BV to that fight. You may assign 90% of the listed BV when invading a two-sector empire, and 100% of the listed value can be assigned for four-sector or higher empires.

Assignment of forces for specific battles occurs in the invasion window, which is accessable by only the house/clan leaders and the player who launched the attack/is being attacked. Simply select the unit you want to assign to a battle, and click the Assign Unit button. You can select multiple units, and use the Sum BV button to examine the BV of various unit combinations.

Once assigned, those units will be entered into combat as soon as the scheduled battle occurs.

Is there anything else I should know?

Plan your attacks, and understand that other players rarely take kindly to being invaded out of the blue. Ensure that this is the mode of action your faction wants to take before going through with it, or you may end up being invaded yourself.

Good luck!
