From Invasion3042 Wiki
The Instigator (INS-NC) is a 70 ton custom Inner Sphere heavy mech originally specific to Nueva Castile.
While serving on the Clan Front, General Jonathan De'Tamar made a decision to work with Duke Maximus De'Tamar on designing an advanced lance of mechs to take on the new threat encountered while facing down Clan Wolf. The Grey Wolf proved to be a deadly adversary, used in force, permitting Green Mechwarriors to fight on par with Veteran Mechwarriors. With intelligence reports about the Grey Wolf, and an Assault based on similar technology, the Brimstone, General De'Tamar's request was sent back to Marik Space well in advance of his return. Once General De'Tamar returned back to Steel Rain's borders, schematics were laid out in front of him for a Bushmaster, using stealth armor, speed, jump jets, and long range weaponry. Seeing the benefit of mobility, but not approving on the armor ratings of a medium mech, he asked the developers to keep the overall layout of the mech, but reinforce the internal structure to hold more armor with a slight reduction on speed, and renamed the mech from Bushmaster to Instigator. Powered by a VOX 280 Fusion Engine, to enhance survivable if a Torso is lost, the mech still survives and four Northrop 12000 jump jets for maneuverability. Armed with a Magna Sunspot Extended Range PPC, a Shigunga Medium Range Missile for primary weaponry, backed with a pair of Diverse Optics Medium Lasers for more power at close range, all coupled with a Scope 3580 with Targeting Computer. After two years of development, the Instigator was finalized, and initial prototypes were tested in secret. Initial testing was more impressive than hoped for, and the production was given the green light. There are high hopes of the Instigator's performance on both the Clan Front and defending the Home Front.
[edit] Description
Like its larger brother, the Zeus-NC-X, the Instigator was designed around the use of Stealth Armor. Unlike the Zeus-X, which was based around short-range firepower, the Instigator's main weapon is an ER-PPC, tied to a targetting computer. It carries an MRM-10 pack and a pair of Medium Lasers for closer-in work. This 'mech also carries jump jets, and had stealth armor been a functional system when the Instigator was designed, it would likely have been a very handy tool in fighting off Clan sniper units.
[edit] Combat record
95 Instigators have seen service, with 24 surviving. The design has been responsible for 63 kills (103,955 BV).
