How to Join a Faction
From Invasion3042 Wiki
Factions are an important part of Invasion3042's gameplay. Trying to navigate the process of how to join one, and learning about each separate faction can be overwhelming at first. However, it is not as hard as it seems.
First, go to Politics tab. There is a button on the left-hand side that allows you to view the list of all the Houses or Clans in the game that you are able to join as a window. In this window, you can view the various recruitment messages posted by these factions, and should their message and overall goal appeal to you, you may apply to join their faction. Many Invasion3042 factions require IRC activity to a certain degree to aid in coordination, but that you also log in at a certain frequency to maintain your empire. Almost every faction in Invasion3042 has a public channel where interested applicants can visit to meet and chat with various members of that faction. The contact list can be found on the Invasion3042 forums here. Keep in mind that the contact info listed may not be up to date, in which case, asking for that faction's representative in the #Invasion3042 channel is recommended.
The other option besides joining an existing faction is applying to join an empty faction. In this case, ReLoad (Invasion3042's creator) will evaluate the application himself, and make the call as to whether or not he will let you lead a faction of your own. It is a daunting task, but with steadfast patience and a strong motivation, the barriers surrounding such an endeavor can be overcome. It is recommended to seek either ReLoad himself on IRC, or another important game figure (examples include John Church, or any of the #Invasion3042 channel operators) about taking control of an empty faction.
For a player new to Battletech and Invasion3042 as a whole, it is advised to join an existing faction to get a feel for the game, and establish a core of friends before taking the plunge of building a faction from scratch.
Perhaps the main rule to remember when seeking a faction is to not be afraid to engage other players in conversation. The vast majority of Invasion3042's playerbase are polite, and will answer your questions provided you treat them with the same courtesy and respect; your first impression to members of a faction may make or break whether you are accepted into that faction or not.
Most factions will get back to you within a real life day or two (on average), depending how active its leadership is. If you are accepted, then congratulations! Your empire will be situated on a planet specified by the leader of the faction you were accepted into, and you will officially become a part of that faction.
