Grumium is one of a handful of planets that make up the newly formed Free Rasalhague Republic which sits between the Lyrans and the Combine. Small yet proud the FRR values each of its worlds, and Grumium is no exception. An important agricultural planet Grumium provides enough foodstuffs for nearly a third of all the planets of the FRR. Grumium is currently owned by House Steiner.

House Steiner captured Grumium in early 3050's from the Free Rasalhague Republic but let the planet lie fallow. It was quietly annexed in 3056 by Clan Widowmaker but re-annexed by House Steiner several days later. Widowmaker forces then successfully invaded and settled the planet. Following the absorption Clan Widowmaker in Clan Blood Spirit, Grumium became currently a frontline world between Clan Blood Spirit and Steiner. After Clan Blood Spirt dissolution, the Free Rasalhague Republic gained Grumium. It was successfully invaded in 3081 by Steiner.
The Grumium/Orestes border was the site of one of the largest stalemates in the game's history. During this time, House Steiner, Clan Kraken Guard, Circinus Federation, Clan Star Adder, and House Marik all maintained thousands of [battle value] worth of forces on Orestes, as Orestes was viewed as the only fortress standing between Clan Widowmaker and House Steiner. For over 5 iYears, Clan Widowmaker and the Orestes garrisoning factions invaded the other's world time and again. Steiner and her allies invaded Clan Widowmaker's occupied Grumium well over two dozen times, but only succeeded in four of them. Clan Widowmaker invaded Steiner's Orestes six times, but was never able make it past the landing zone. Eventually, before a peace agreement was made between Steiner and Clan Widowmaker.
