BattleMech
From Invasion3042 Wiki
The BattleMech is the main combat unit used in Invasion 3042, piloted by a Mechwarrior. It is typically called a mech, rather then the more formal full name. Battlemechs range from 20 to 100 tonnes in weight. The smaller BattleMechs tend to be faster, more lightly armed, and more lightly armored than their heavier counterparts.
To view mechs in game, go to the "Marketplace" tab, then use the "BattleMech Information" window.

Differences between Clan and Inner Sphere 'mechs
The main difference between the Clans and Inner Sphere(IS) are their mechs. IS mechs tend to be more heavily armored, while having less weaponry, and are typically lower in the BV cost. Clan mechs, on the other hand, tend to have less armor, more weapons, and cost much more BV than their IS counterparts.
Battlemech Anatomy
Battlemechs are complex war machines, with a great number of confusing parts.
Mechs are divided into a number of sections. Every mech has a head (H), left arm (LA), right arm (RA), left leg (LL), right leg (RL), left torso (LT), right torso (RT), left rear torso (LRT), right rear torso (RRT), center rear torso (CRT), and center torso (CT). Quad mechs differ slightly- they have four legs, though their front legs are often treated and referred to as arms.
These sections serve different fuctions.
Head
The head is the part of the mech that holds the pilot. It is the smallest section of the mech, and the hardest to hit. It is also vitally important. If it is destroyed, the pilot is killed (unless they are lucky enough to eject) and the mech is destroyed. Some weapons are capable of destroying the head of a mech with a single blow, instantly killing the mech.
The head houses several important components. The cockpit is located here, along with the life support system and sensors. The head can also hold weapons.
Arms
The arms usually serve two purposes- hold weapons, and hold heat sinks to cool these weapons. The arms have a unique advantage. In combat, a mech can twist around and use one of its arms to fire at a unit that is behind the mech. It may decide which arm to use. Mechs also use arms to prop themselves up to fire from the prone position.
When an arm is destroyed in combat, any leftover damage is moved to the corresponding side of the torso- right arm damage is distributed to the right torso. In addition, the mech will no longer be able to prop itself up and fire with the other arm when prone.
The arm has a shoulder and upper arm actuator, and may also include a lower arm and hand actuator. Most mechs use the arms to hold weapons, and many also have heat sinks and internal structure. The arms can also hold equipment such as targeting computers, Artemis IV's, and other components.
'Mechs without lower arm or hand actuators can flip their arms to bring their arm-mounted weapons to bear in their rear arcs. However, these 'mechs are incapable of performing punches in physical combat. 'Mechs with lower arms can punch, but they deal reduced damage in doing so. 'Mechs with hands can perform punches at full damage ('mech tonnage/5; the same formula as kicking).
Torso
The torso can be subdivided into two pieces: the outer torso, which includes the left and right torso, and the inner torso, which includes the center torso.
The torso has four gyros (actuators). It can hold a variety of weapons, heat sinks, internal structure, targeting equipment, and any other random components.
The engine is the most important part of the torso.
Legs
The legs are typically used for walking. While this may seem mundane, any pilot will immediately realize their value when one is missing.
The legs typically house similar components. There are four actuators in each leg. Many legs also house internal structure and heat sinks. The legs will, in some rare cases, hold weapons or other components.
A 'mech that is next to or in the same hex as its target can often perform kicks, which deal ('mech tonnage/5) points of damage. When an enemy 'mech is damaged by a kick, they must perform a piloting roll to determine whether they remain standing or fall over. If the kick attack misses, the attacking 'mech must perform a piloting roll of its own. A 'mech that has lost a leg in combat cannot perform kicks.
