BattleTech is a board game originally designed by FASA and are creators of the game concepts used in Invasion 3042. The original Battletech is a board game, often referred to as "Classic Battletech". There have been a number of revisions of the game. In addition, there are a large number of spin-offs. These include a large number of computer games like Mechwarrior, a collectible card game, and another board game called Mechwarrior Clix by Wizkids. There is also a series of novels based on the battletech universe, over 50+ great novels.

It can also mean the technology of war used in the board game and Invasion 3042.

Battletech is a hex-based, turn based game of BattleMech combat, where a player, or group of players control a number of pieces, called BattleMechs, or vehicles, aerospace fighters, jumpships, dropships, warships, battle armor infantry, or regular infantry.
