As per many discussions in the forums we are trialling for 4 weeks a new type of initiative, which has seen the removal of the sub 1600 init.
Units each phase roll randomly for init based on a series of variables as per the forum post, it takes in the following: BV, walk speed, jumping ability, piloting skill, weight of the unit.
Every unit has a chance based on the above to move in the second part of the move phase. I have a spreadsheet for you to download so you can see what your unit will have as a chance, i will also add a calculator on the marketplace page so it will save your sore brains from doing math.
There is two changes to the combat screen, the init of the unit is shown up in your friendly unit listing, it shows what part of the move phase you are in, 1st or 2nd with the numbers 1 or 2. Its sortable so you can list your units and step thru them, using F keys if thats your bag.
Secondly on the combat map itself every unit that wins init has a big I indicator on it, which shows to each side what units have won init. This is very easy to spot and will allow everyone to see with ease what is what.
The actual formula which is open and available to you all may need tweaking over the course of the month, so your feedback is appreciated in the forums.
Given the testing that has already been done on this, the guys have said as its so easy to see what is in init and what isn’t, they dont see a need to make the move phase longer, but that of course may be changed as more testing occurs.
Cheers
